FIRST GOLF CROQUET SINGLES KICKS OFF JUNE 5!!!

Please remember for those of you who want to have fun playing a series of Golf Croquet singles matches, Sunday afternoons are designated for that purpose. Sign up using the CRS so that the organizers will have an idea of how many will play, beginning at 3 PM. Another croquet event that our Members say will be fun for them..

Another fun Monday at Wine and Wickets

Hello Croquetnutters,
We had another great time at W&W Monday. It will take a bit of time to get used to the online reservations system, but with Paul's helpful directions, we can all master it! The telephone does still provide comfort, so I will continue to check with Doris and Kenny to get any phone in reservations from them.
Now to other important stuff. Kudos to those who won the "shootout" this week: Charlie Simon and Jeannette Wilkes took the top honors. We need to acknowledge Mary Ellen Williams' fine play as well.
For myself, staying and playing after 6:00 was a real treat. I played with some of the masters of the game and learned some things just by watching and asking questions. It was a great way to take in some more instruction.
Thanks to all of the staff at the Toxaway Room. Dinner was a great affair and we hope to continue the menu choices for the coming weeks in the same fashion.
The only thing missing for me was my camera to take some photos. That will be on my list for next week.
I have put out a sign up sheet for "Snack Patrol" , so any of you who wish to bring something yummy, look for the list on the table and help us out! One aside; I brought chocolate covered peanuts and quickly found out they don't fare well in the heat.

First Wine and Wickets

The turnout was great for our first Wine and Wickets! Welcome to all new croquet players. Once you start playing you will get hooked.
The new online scheduling system is great for planning ahead, so we can make sure that all of us get a chance to play. Remember to also make your reservations for the meal following. We are planning on stopping play on the courts at 6:00. One more game will then be scheduled for those who want to continue play; the rest of us can head to the Toxaway Room for dinner. This will prevent the club from being slammed with one large group.
We will have a set menu this coming Monday with some healthy alternative selections. I have been working with the club to insure that we can all enjoy our meals together after playing.
Congratulations to Les Avera and Paul Cooper for scoring the most wickets. We also want to thank Linda Garner and Russ Wagner for the snacks on our first W&W. A sign up sheet will be out for snack assignments. Please pick a Monday to do snacks. We have a $25 reimbursable limit. This will keep it simple.

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE 2011 SOUTHEAST REGION DOUBLES CHAMPIONS-GEORGE BAGWELL AND KENNY LOVETT!!!! GEORGE AND KENNY WON THEIR FLIGHT THIS WEEKEND AT PINEHURST. YAHOO FOR THE LTMC.
